THE BIDDEFORD POOL LIFE SAVING STATION
The Biddeford Pool/ Fletchers Neck Life Saving Station went into its first full year of active service in 1875. For the next forty years surfmen from the station guarded the rugged shoreline stretching from the busy docks at Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Portland, Maine. Their stories are echoes of the larger narrative that comprises the history of Biddeford Pool and the lower Saco River.
